Parliamentary Military Commissioner Boško Šiljegović was in Geneva at the Sixth International Conference of Military Ombudsman
Parliamentary Military Commissioner, Boško Šiljegović, participated in Geneva in the work of the Sixth International Conference of Ombudsman for the armed forces, which was thematically dedicated to the question of prestige and status of the armed forces in society, the possibilities for improving co-operation between the armed forces and the institution of the Ombudsman, and the role of social networks and media in presenting the state of the armed forces and monitoring the activities of the military Ombudsman.
During the Conference, hosted by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), Mr. Šiljegović addressed participants, highlighting examples of positive practice in the work of the Office of the BiH Parliamentary Military Commissioner.
On the sidelines of the Conference, Mr. Šiljegović also held meetings with Ombudsmen dealing with issues of human rights protection in the armed forces. During these meetings, they exchanged experiences and information on the work of the BiH Parliamentary Military Commissioner and institutions that deal with this issue in the countries participating in the Conference.
The two-day international Conference of the military Ombudsman was opened by the Director of DCAF, Dr. Theodor Winkler. At the end of the conference the process of reintegration of soldiers into civilian society after the end of their military career, as well as the activities of the Ombudsman for the armed forces aimed at strengthening the reputation of government institutions with whom they work and the institutions that they lead, were discussed.
