Speaker of the House of Peoples Safet Softić met with a delegation of the Parliament of Azerbaijan

Safet Softić, the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) met today in Sarajevo with a delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan and spoke about improving political and economic relations between two countries.

Emphasizing the fact that political relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina are at the high level, and that relations are getting stronger every day, the speaker Softić spoke with distinguished guests about current political situation in our country. Highlighting the European and Euro-Atlantic integration as a foreign policy priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Softić said that our country this year has made significant steps towards the EU and NATO, despite the political turmoil on the eve of local elections.

Mr Softić thanked to the guests from the Parliament of Azerbaijan for its important economic investments in BIH, particularly emphasized the investments of that country in the municipality of Srebrenica and in the city of Doboj. According to Softić, BiH as a multiethnic state, which cares for respecting of constituency, equality and rights of peoples and citizens, recommends to all friendly countries to develop political and economic relations at the whole territory of our country.

Assessing that there is a plenty of room for development of economic relations between two countries, Mr Softić urged businessmen from Azerbaijan to continue to invest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that authorities in our country will do their best to make investments protected and improved.

Members of the Delegation of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, led by Member of Parliament Javanshir Feyziyev and Chairman of the Friendship Group of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Azerbaijan, MP Chingiz Ganizade, pointed out that contacts and discussions should be more frequent and more substantial at all levels between the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan. Such contacts, especially at the level of ambassadors and MPs of the two countries in the parliamentary assemblies of the Council of Europe and OSCE, will contribute to a better understanding and further enhance of political and economic relations between BiH and Azerbaijan.

Members of the Parliament of Azerbaijan have announced new investments of that country in the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as further strengthening of cooperation between friends’ cities of Baku and Sarajevo, which is planned for the next year.

The high guests extended to Mr. Softić invitation of the President of the Parliament of Azerbaijan to visit the country, which speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly accepted with pleasure. (end)
