Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Denis Bećirović meets the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić
- Good atmosphere in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is encouraging, stressed Ognjen Tadić, Speaker of the House of Peoples, in conversation led with Patrick Moon, Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH. It is positive, he added, that all members whom I have spoken to wish to contribute to solving the problem. That means that the public may perceive us as representatives who move things in the positive direction.
Ambassador Moon has expressed interest in the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in possibilities of reaching a compromise among political forces as regards the establishment of the new Council of Ministers.
Concerning the "Sejdić - Finci" decision enforcement, Speaker Tadić emphasised that no one wishes to discriminate against people who have been rudely called "Others" and that this issue could be resolved relatively easily. As regards the adoption of the Law on Census, Speaker Tadić informed Ambassador Moon of the fact that the amendment stage had been prolonged exactly in the interest of creating space for finding a solution for the contested Article 48.
- I have a feeling that there is political readiness for meeting this requirement in order for this country to be able to apply for the EU candidacy status.
Speaker Tadić and Ambassador Moon have agreed that, along with addressing political issues, a stronger accent ought to be placed now upon addressing economic and social issues. (The end)
