Speaker of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives, Ognjen Tadić and Dr. Denis Bećirović, spoke with the EU Special Representative in BiH
The mandate of the EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peter Sorensen, is based on the strategic objectives of the European Union for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the conclusions of the EU Council in reference to our country dated, as of March this year. Based on the powers vested in the Special Representative, it is expected that a quality and efficient partnership between the EU Special Representative’s Office and the state and all other levels of government in BiH will be established. It is perceived that this will be helpful if our country wishes to timely fulfil requirements on its road to the European Union. This was stated at today’s meeting of the Speakers of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives, Ognjen Tadić i Dr. Denis Bećirović, with the EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peter Sorensen. The details of Mr. Sorensen’s mission in BiH were also discussed, while it was inevitable to also mention the need to soon pass the Law on Population Census and the Law on State Aid and implement the Ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in the Sejdić-Finci case. On this occasion, the leaders of the parliamentary Houses have expressed gratitude that Mr. Sorensen, who will also be the Head of the European Commission in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the forthcoming mandate, chose the highest legislative body of our country for the first working meeting, taking place immediately upon submitting of his credentials.
