Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, Mr Boško Šiljegović, spoke with the Chairman of the Austrian Parliamentary Commission for the Federal Armed Forces and the Commander of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Strong support was expressed for activities of the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH during the meeting held today between the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, Mr Boško Šiljegović, the Chairman of the Austrian Parliamentary Commission for the Federal Armed Forces, Mr Paul Kiss, the Senior Legal Secretary, Mr Karl Schneemann, and the Commander of EUFOR in BiH, Major General Bernhard Bair. The guests praised the efforts being made for the protection of fundamental human rights of members of the Armed Forces of BiH and the Ministry of Defence of BiH, and the fact that the Office of the Parliamentary Military Commissioner continues to maintain high standards in their work.
The Parliamentary Military Commissioner said that the institution of the Military Commissioner is an autonomous one but, at the same time, it also co-operates closely with all authorities in this field. "In implementing parliamentary control, we are guided by the principle that the main objective is strengthening the rule of law, human rights and the freedoms of military personnel and cadets, as guaranteed by the Constitution of BiH and international conventions ratified by Bosnia and Herzegovina", Mr Šiljegović stressed.
