Members of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives met with the delegation of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The Chair of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) Darijana Filipović, Deputy Chair of the Committee, Sabina Ćudić and members of the Committee Saša Magazinović and Midhat Čaušević spoke today with the delegation of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, led by British parliamentarian Paul Waugh.
Emphasizing that the situation in the Western Balkans region is one of the priorities of the current British Government and the majority in the British Parliament, the guests from the United Kingdom emphasized their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed their interest in continued cooperation with the defence sector, as well as investments in BiH, especially in the field of infrastructure.
They especially emphasized the support of the United Kingdom to the European path of BiH and offered help to the institutions of our country in the process of European integration.
The members of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives welcomed the fact that Great Britain is a long-term constructive and credible partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina and thanked for the participation of British troops in the EUFOR Mission. In this regard, they particularly emphasized the importance of Great Britain's support in the security sector.
The members of the Commission informed their colleagues from the British Parliament about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointing out that the political crisis has stopped the process of European integration, which, as it was said, is of common interest to everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this regard, it was said that efforts are being made to overcome the current situation and fulfil the remaining conditions for the formal opening of negotiations on the membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union.
Both parties expressed their desire to continue contacts with the aim of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. In this regard, the British side invited the members of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH to visit the Parliament of Great Britain. (end)
