Ljubica Miljanović and Čedomir Stojanović, members of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH), participated in the 32nd General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy in Bucharest. The event was held in Bucharest to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Romanian Patriarchate and the 140th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Those attending the session were addressed by the President of the General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, Ioan Vulpescu; the President of the House of Representatives of the Romanian Parliament, Ciprian-Constantin Şerban; His Holiness Patriarch Daniel of Romania; and the Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, Maximos Charakopoulos. The opening session of the General Assembly also included a welcome address from His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. During the session, participants discussed cooperation between parliamentary and religious institutions in establishing guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence. Participants particularly emphasised the importance of the Marrakech Communiqué, adopted at the Inter-Parliamentary Union session, which highlights the need for cooperation and sincere, substantive dialogue between parliamentarians and religious entities when addressing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. In the spirit of the aforementioned communiqué, participants emphasised the importance of cooperation between parliaments, religious leaders, and communities in seeking common solutions to today's problems, such as poverty, inequality, the consequences of climate change, and conflicts and wars. They also addressed the issues of widespread dependence on and excessive use of digital technology, including artificial intelligence.
The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Romania, Milorad Živković, also attended the ceremonial opening of the 32nd session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
