The Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke with Peter Sorensen
During today's session of the members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Peter Sorensen, it was emphasized that the positive climate, which was created due to the agreement between the leaders of six political parties that create the majority in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, should be used in 2012.
Dr. Denis Bećirević, the Speaker of the House of the Representatives, stressed today that it is very important to focus on the consistent implementation of the political agreement reached by the six leaders without raising the new issues. In addition, Bećirević stated that the submission of the application for the EU membership is a joint victory, while the failure of the fulfilment of this aim is a common defeat of all the citizens and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sulejman Tihić, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, agreed that the positive climate should be used and an earlier agreed package should be implemented. On the other hand, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Božo Ljubić, despite the disappointment of today's failure to adopt the Law on State Aid in the first reading, he expressed the optimism that the important state laws, essential for the submission of the application, can finally be adopted in the line with the formation of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Chairman of Serb People
Caucus in the House of Peoples Staša Košarac expressed today the expectation that at the next session of the House of Peoples the harmonized Draft on the Law on Population Census, households and flats in BiH will be discussed.
At the meeting, a need for the high level coordination between the state and local levels of the government was intensified. Accordingly, it will provide an answer to the explicit request of the European Union; to have one address with whom it will be possible to negotiate and to agree on the fulfilment of the required tasks in the process of the accession. However, without the fulfilment of the above mentioned conditions, as it was stressed today, the submission of the application for EU membership will not be seriously considered. (end)
