Chair of the PABiH Delegation to the PACE, Saša Magazinović, addressed the opening of a PACE exhibition in Strasbourg

Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina: A Story of Encounters, Culture, Science, Architecture, and Coexistence

The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Saša Magazinović, was one of the speakers at the opening of the exhibition “Under the Sky of Clear Faith – Islam and Europe in the Bosnian Experience”, which was inaugurated today at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

In his address, Magazinović stated, among other points:

„Today, we stand before the testimonies of a centuries-old story – a story of encounters, culture, science, architecture, and living together.

Throughout history, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a bridge between East and West, a place where Islam not only encountered Europe, but also took root, refined, and shaped a unique cultural and spiritual heritage. This exhibition does not only show the past – it opens a space for dialogue both in the present and in the future.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the organizer, to member of BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović as the general patron of the exhibition, and to all others who made this exhibition possible, Magazinović particularly thanked the present representatives of the Council of Europe member states, emphasizing that their presence confirms that understanding, curiosity, and openness still have a place under the European sky.

The exhibition “Under the Sky of Bright Faith – Islam and Europe in the Bosnian Experience” presents the presence and influence of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Europe over the past five centuries. It highlights its key dimensions, from coexistence and various interactions to contributions to both Bosnian and Herzegovinian, as well as European culture, science, and architecture. Special focus in this exhibition is given to the cultural and historical monuments listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. (End)
