The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina has completed a study visit to the European Parliament

The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of members of the House of Representatives Milan Dunović, Šerif Špago, Nenad Grković, Jasmin Emrić, Rejhana Dervišević and delegates in the House of Peoples Zdenko Ćosić, Dženan Đonlagić, Radovan Kovačević, Džemal Smajić, Nenad Vuković and Safet Softić, on the last day of their study visit to Brussels, met with the rapporteur of the European Parliament for BiH Ondřej Kolář and members of the European Parliament Helmut Brandstätter and Irena Joveva. It was an opportunity for MEPs to get first-hand information about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As it was said during the meeting, the expansion of the European Union (EU) to the countries of the Western Balkans is necessary both for these countries and for the EU, and considering this, the hope was expressed that good news would soon arrive from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of the European Parliament called on the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to make additional efforts in order to fulfil the necessary conditions as soon as possible, which, above all, refer to the adoption of the two remaining laws in the area of the judiciary necessary for the rule of law, the appointment of the chief negotiator and the national coordinator for IPA funds, and the harmonization of visa policy with the EU.
As it was pointed out in Brussels today, the culprits for the situation in which the biggest losers are the citizens have their own name and surname, and that is why it is necessary for the politicians to turn to the people, because the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve much better living conditions. The European path has no alternative, because in this way a better life will be ensured for all citizens, and the key to the door to the EU is in your hands, the European parliamentarians concluded. The hosts in Brussels called on the parliamentarians of Bosnia and Herzegovina to give priority to the strengthening of dialogue, and to take concrete steps with joint forces that would bring Bosnia and Herzegovina one step closer to European integration.
In today's talks, the participants also touched on women's equality in society, as well as in politics, which, as emphasized, needs to be given more attention.
Also, the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH actively participated in a simulation exercise on dialogue and consensus building in the European Parliament. The goal of this exercise is a practical insight into the way in which public policies are implemented in the European Parliament, characterized by negotiations and consensus building. (end)
