Members of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) met with the Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia

The Chair of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Zdenko Ćosić, and Member Mia Karamehić – Abazović met with the Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, who is on an official visit to our country.

The dominant topics during the meeting included the exchange of experiences in the process of European integration, internal relations, the normalization of relations with neighbouring countries in the post-conflict period, and the strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation.

The Armenian delegation, which included member of the Armenian Parliament’s European Integration Committee Sona Ghazaryan and Ashot Hovakimian, the non-resident ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina based in Prague, expressed particular interest in the visa liberalization process for European Union countries, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina's experiences in the European integration process and the challenges encountered in obtaining candidate status and the decision to open membership negotiations with the European Union.

In this regard, the members of the Joint Committee for European Integration of PABiH emphasized that there is a consensus among all key political actors in our country regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, stating that despite difficulties and delays, EU membership for Bosnia and Herzegovina has no alternative.

They also exchanged information on the current relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina with neighbouring countries, as well as Armenia's relations with neighbouring Turkey and Azerbaijan following the conclusion of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

There was also a discussion on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the European Integration Committee of the Parliament of Armenia extended an invitation to the members of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the PABiH to visit Armenia, which was gladly accepted. (End)
