The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Saša Magazinović, met with the Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia

Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Saša Magazinović, met with Ruben Rubinyan, Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia and Chair of the Armenian Parliament’s Delegation to PACE.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged information about the activities of their respective delegations within PACE, with a particular focus on human rights issues and the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights. Magazinović briefed his esteemed guest on the forms of discrimination faced by citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the relevant decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. He emphasised the importance of implementing these decisions and respecting the human rights of every citizen in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Furthermore, he highlighted the founding principles of the Council of Europe, Europe’s oldest organisation, which he described as a unique mechanism and instrument for protecting human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

The discussion also touched upon the European integration process and the European path of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Armenia. Magazinović underscored that the European integration process is the best tool for transforming any country engaged in it. He noted that the authorities and institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are working intensively to meet the conditions for formally initiating accession negotiations with the European Union. He expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin these negotiations as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the interlocutors reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ashot Hovakimian. (End)
