Chairs of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of BiH and the PA BiH Delegation to PA NATO spoke with the head of the Department for Political Activities and NATO Support
Chair of the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of BiH Jasmin Imamović, Deputy Chair of the Joint Committee Marina Pendeš, who is also a member of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO (PANATO), Deputy Chair of the Joint Committee Radovan Kovačević, and Chair of PA BiH Delegation to PA NATO Kemal Ademović and his deputy Obren Petrović talked today with the head of the Department for Political Activities and Support of NATO Vladimir Vučinić.
Vučinić introduced the chairs of the Joint Committee and members of the PA BiH Delegation to PA NATO with the tasks and goals of the newly formed Department for Political Activities and NATO Support, which has been operating in Sarajevo since July this year. According to Vučinić, the aim of the Department is to strengthen NATO's political dialogue with representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to strengthen the communication strategy about NATO activities in BiH and in the wider region of the Western Balkans.
Emphasizing that the Western Balkans region is of strategic interest to NATO, as well as that NATO's key priorities are the preservation of peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region, Vučinić apostrophized the continuation of partnership cooperation between BiH and NATO through the adoption of the Individual Adapted Cooperation Program , which is expected by the end of this year. He also emphasized that NATO will not allow a security vacuum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the event of the eventual termination of the EUFOR/Altea mission.
He positively evaluated the activities related to the improvement of the political dialogue between BiH and NATO, and announced a series of high-level events, including the possible visit of the new NATO Secretary General Marko Rutte to the region next year, which, as it was said, testifies to NATO's full commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region.
Chairs of the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of BiH and members of the PA BiH Delegation to PA NATO informed Vučinić about the responsibilities and activities undertaken by the Joint Committee and the Delegation this year.
The cooperation with the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, as well as with the EUFOR/Altea Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was positively assessed, and the hope was expressed that close cooperation with the Department for Political Activities and Support of NATO would be established for the benefit of all BiH institutions in the defense and security sectors as well as for the benefit of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
