The Members of the Friendship Group for Western Europe spoke with the State Minister for European Affairs of Ireland

Today, the Deputy Speaker Boško Tomić and the members of the Friendship Group for Western Europe, Mirsad Mešić and Nermin Ćemalović, met with the Minister of State for European Affairs of Ireland, Lucinda Creighton, who is also the Representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Chairperson-in-Office.

"In Brussels, the leaders of the political parties agreed that they will do everything necessary for the submission of an application for EU membership. However, as an SNSD member, on behalf of this party, I can say that we will respect the agreement reached in Brussels. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a new parliamentary majority is forming, and we will try to form a new Council of Ministers in the shortest time possible", said the Chair of the Friendship Group, Boško Tomić.

Mirsad Mešić emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in political crisis, but rather that there has been a political party in power for 20 years, and it is not ready to accept a new parliamentary majority. On the other hand, Nermina Ćemalović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina should fight against corruption and try to increase respect for human rights.
Minister Creighton expressed her satisfaction with the opportunity to speak with the representatives of the highest level legislative body in BiH. She said that today's meeting precedes the Irish presidency of the European Union. "I am encouraged by the enthusiasm and the rising aspiration of BiH for membership of the EU, as well as with the news of the political parties’ leaders’ willingness to reach agreement on important issues. Accordingly, Ireland is committed to work with BiH on its path towards the EU, and the OSCE is committed to co-operating with your country on this path ", Minister Creighton emphasized. (end)
