The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Rejhana Dervišević, participated in a high-level parliamentary conference in New York, organized by PAM with the support of the PAM Centre for Global Studies, as a side event ahead of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The conference, held in partnership with the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), and the Permanent Missions of the Kingdom of Morocco and Italy to the UN, focused on strengthening parliamentary and governmental cooperation on key global challenges and revitalizing the multilateral governance system.
The conference was opened by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and PAM President, Enaam Mayara, who announced two strategic PAM initiatives: the establishment of permanent parliamentary observatories for Sustainable Development Goals and for the malicious use of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies. According to President Mayara, these initiatives aim to strengthen multilateral trust and ensure responsible use of technology in governance.
The participants concluded that PAM remains committed to promoting global cooperation and addressing complex international challenges through strong legislative frameworks and parliamentary action.
The Chair Dervišević will also attend the 79th session of the UNGA as part of the PAM Delegation. Additionally, she will participate in a meeting of the "Women Political Leaders" (WPL) organization in New York, where discussions will focus on the current state of women's representation in politics globally, the need for gender-sensitive policies, and the critical role of women in political and decision-making positions.
