The Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PANATO), Kemal Ademović, and the Deputy Chairman of the Delegation, Obren Petrović, are participating in the spring session of the PANATO being held in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria.
The first day was opened by the sessions of the Committee on Economy and Security, Science and Technology, and Committee on Defense and Security of the PANATO during which it was discussed the preliminary draft report titled "Western Balkans: Renewed Security Challenges on NATO's Doorstep," presented by Lord Mark Lancaster from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Members of the Delegation of PABiH actively participated in these discussions.
The members of the Delegation also held a working meeting with the Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Ruxandra Popa, during which they reviewed the conclusions from the previous meeting regarding the organization of the Rose-Roth seminars and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly event held in Sarajevo. Additionally, the visit to Brussels by the Joint Committee for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) was deemed successful and seen as an example of good practice that should be continued in the future.
Ms. Popa stated that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly recognizes Bosnia and Herzegovina as a partner country, and for this reason, as announced by the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Michal Szczerba, discussions were held on upgrading the status and increasing the number of members of the PABiH Delegation. It was emphasized that the commitment of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region is also demonstrated by the reports on the agenda of the committees.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the upcoming activities of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the announcement of the next spring session in Dayton, USA. It was mentioned that the location of the session itself will be dedicated to commemorating the anniversary of the signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
