The Chair of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Dušanka Majkić met the Director of Security Co-operation Department of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina



The Chair of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Dušanka Majkić received the first courtesy call from the Director of the Security Co-operation Department of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brigadier-General Harald Quiel after his appointment to this position. They exchanged views on future co-operation between the Joint Committee and the Security Co-operation Department.

Among the activities planned to take place from mid-October until the end of 2012, Chair Majkić emphasized: the preparation of the Budgetary Conference and the Conference on Security State of Affairs in BiH, a debate on the Draft Law on Parliamentary Oversight in the area of Defence and Security in whose preparation representatives of the Security Co-operation Department of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina also participated, visits to the institutions under the Committee’s parliamentary oversight, visits to the executive and legislative institutions of the Republic of Croatia, as well as holding meetings with defence and security themes.

“I expect our co-operation will be as successful as the one with your predecessors. We have the work plans, developed partnership model of co-operation which may serve as a good example, partners who know each other well, and everything indicates that the expected results can only be better than before“, said Majkic.

Director Quiel said that the Committee enjoys full support for the planned projects, which the Security Co-operation Department intends to support within its capacity. During the meeting they also addressed the work of the Investigative Committee for the verification of legitimacy of ammunition and mines/explosive devices, weapons and military equipment destruction process in which OSCE representatives also participated.
