Members of the Collegium of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with the President of the Senate of Canada

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canada are two friendly countries which in no way whatever use the opportunity for stronger economic and any other relations; this was said during the meeting of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Milord Živković and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Mr. Ognjen Tadić with the Delegation of the Senate of Canada, which is in four-day working visit in our country. Namely, the Canadian Delegation is headed by the President of Canadian Senate, Mr. Noel Kinsella.

The Speaker, Mr. Živković pointed out opportunities for greater presence of Canadian investors in the field of mining, energy sector and agriculture, but he also added that it is essential for that purpose to develop stronger relations between the two countries, their governments, businessmen and citizens. A strong need for the Canadian consulate in our country was stressed today in order to gather first-hand information on significant investment opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, it was pointed out that it is necessary to sign international agreements on social insurance, avoidance of double taxation as well as a very interesting agreement which provides for the exchange of young people between the two countries.

Mr. Tadić stressed the ability that Canada could provide technology to support exploiting the significant natural resources that Bosnia and Herzegovina has, and added that education in our country produces fairly good professionals who are able to handle with this technology. On the other hand, such arrangements would be useful for Canada because Canada would get closer to European market.

According to the president of the Senate Noel Kinsella, programs designed to increase the mobility of young people will provide an opportunity for young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina to spend a certain time in Canada, to work, make some profits and establish useful contacts which could be very useful once when they come back to BiH.
