A Permanent Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Fourth Part of the Ordinary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
A permanent delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina composed of Milica Marković and Ismeta Dervoz will participate at the last part of the ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which will be held from 1-5 October 2012 in Strasbourg.
At the beginning of the session, the Assembly will examine credentials and will deal with changes in the membership of committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and discuss the committees’ progress reports. Also, representatives will discuss the Safarov case and the European response to the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
As announced, on the second day, members of the Parliamentary Assembly will discuss various important issues; among others the honouring of obligations and commitments by the Russian Federation, political parties and women’s political representation, as well as the Communication from the Committee of Ministers to the Parliamentary Assembly will be presented.
The topics for the third day of the ordinary session are: activities of the OECD in 2011 and 2012, the definition of the term political prisoner, and human rights and foreign policy.
On the fourth day, participants will have an opportunity to exchange opinions on the following topics: Code of conduct of members of the Parliamentary Assembly: good
practice or a core duty?, the right to freedom of choice in education in Europe; and on the last day of the session the following topics will be discussed: restoring social justice through a tax on financial transactions, the consolidation and international openness of the European Higher Education Area, and the governance of higher education institutions in the European Higher Education Area.
During the fourth part of the ordinary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation are planned. (end)
