Members of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security at a Session on National Security Policies
Members of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of the BiH PA and the Committee on Defence and Security of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia participated in a seminar on National Security Policies, held in the George Marshall European Centre for Security Studies, headquartered in Garmisch Partenkirchen in southern Germany, from 24 to 26 April 2013.
On the first day, representatives of the working bodies of both Parliaments dealing with Defence and Security Sector supervision, talked about regional security co-operation, the main challenges in the process of joining NATO, costs and benefits of enlargement, and regional economic security.
Today, representatives of the Parliamentary Committees will talk about the roles of Parliaments in reforming the Security Sector, responsibility towards voters, European Security and Defence Policy, as well as the role of Parliaments in planning and supervising the Defence and Security Sector budget.
During the seminar, it is anticipated that talks will be held with the Delegates of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia, regarding lessons learned during their Euro-Atlantic Integration process. The seminar will be concluded with a speech on upcoming challenges in the 21st century in South-Eastern Europe, with a special focus on the fight against organized crime and corruption.
