Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović and Safet Softić, met with members of the Friendship Group for BiH of Federal Council of Austria
Members of the Friendship Group of the Federal Council of Austria, led by the President of the Group Nurten Yilmaz, pointed out that Austria strongly supports the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, they emphasized the significance of BiH acquiring the status of candidate for EU membership as soon as possible.
The Austrian parliamentarians were interested in many specific issues related to EU and NATO integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as eventual obstacles standing on it's path.
Emphasizing the fact that the relations between Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina are at the highest level and that such relations should be maintained in all areas for the benefit of citizens of the two friendly countries, Mr. Džaferović and Mr. Softić pointed out that in a couple of months our country is about to submit a credible application for EU candidate status, thanks to the British - German initiative which was adopted by all the major political authorities in BiH.
Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina informed the guests from Austria that the implementation of the important economic and social reforms adopted from the European Agenda in our country is in its due course as well as that the issue of traditional trade with Croatia after its accession to European Union, has been in the process of solving. Also, they were introduced with the adjustment of the coordination mechanism of various levels of government so that BiH when it comes to EU, could speak in one voice.
Members of the Friendship Group of the Federal Council of Austria invited the members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to visit Austria which was accepted with pleasure. (End)
