Members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples meet the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH

Members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples, Bakir Izetbegović, the Speaker, and Deputy Speakers, Dr. Dragan Čović and Dr. Nikola Špirić talked with the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Bruce Burton, in Sarajevo today.

Congratulating the members of the Collegium on their election into the management of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Burton was particularly interested in the process of forming the government in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As priorities in the engagement of the OSCE Mission to our country, he pointed out its assistance in solving problems in the process of education, development of democracy and the fight against corruption.

The members of the Collegium expressed their undivided position on the need to find a solution in order to establish the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the working bodies of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, as soon as possible. During the meeting with Ambassador Burton, Messrs. Izetbegović, Čović and Špirić also pointed out that it is important to intensify work on amending the electoral legislation in our country, so that harmonisation with the decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights would be completed before the 2020 election. In that, but also in other processes, it was said today that it is necessary to intensify political dialogue.

During the meeting, members of the House of Peoples thanked the OSCE Mission for its support and concrete assistance in the development of democratic processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed hope that it would maintain such a role in the future. (end)
