Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Damir Arnaut at the sessions of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and the Subcommittee on Human Rights PACE
Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Damir Arnaut, will participate at the sessions of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and the Subcommittee on Human Rights of PACE, which will be held in Paris on 12 December 2017.
It has been announced that three candidates will be interviewed for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe at the session of the PACE Subcommittee on Human Rights, among whom is the candidate Dunja Mijatović from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second round, at the proposal of our country.
The list of three candidates, which is consist of Goran Klemenčić from Slovenia and Pierre-Yves Le Borgn from France, the PACE Sub-Committee for Human Rights was submitted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, and PACE will elect a new Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner in a plenary session in Strasbourg at the end of January 2018.
The candidate elected by PSVE at a plenary session in January next year will take the office of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights on April 1, 2018 for a six-year term, without the possibility of renewal of the mandate.
The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights is an independent and impartial institution established by the Council of Europe in 1999 with the aim of promoting awareness and respect for human rights in the 47 member states of the Council of Europe. (end)
