Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH talked with the Delegation of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Borjana Krišto, and her Deputy Speakers, Mladen Bosić and Šefik Džaferović, met today in Sarajevo with the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Vice-President (CPPCC), Ma Peihua, and members of the delegation of this Chinese institution, to discuss the possibilities for improvement of bilateral relations between these two countries.

Members of PABiH House of Representatives emphasized the fact that the cooperation between two countries is improving in all fields - from political-institutional and economic to cooperation in the fields of education and culture evaluating thus the political and economic relations with the People's Republic of China to be at the highest level possible.

Thanking the high-level guests for the previous assistance and investment in BiH economy, members of the Collegium of the PABiH House of Representatives stressed once again that our country will continue supporting the "One-China Principle", which implies full respect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this friendly country.

Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives expressed the view that P.R. China has assumed the role of a global economic leader, and welcomed the step-up of talks on boost- up of trade and new Chinese investments. In this regard, the construction of Tuzla Thermal Power Plant "Block 7" was mentioned, which will, as it was said, represent the largest post-war investment in BiH energy sector. The strong interest of our businessmen for exporting agricultural and food products to the Chinese market was also emphasized.

Expressing gratitude for the consistent BiH support to the "One China" policy, the CPPCC Vice President confirmed that the P.R. China respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH and expresses its readiness to continue investing in BiH and supporting the economic development of all parts of our country.

Recalling the fact that BiH was, with the Stanari Thermal Power Plant construction project, the first European state to use the funds from the Project 16 + 1, Mr. Peihua stressed that the Government of the People's Republic of China considers Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of the most important partners in the region and in the implementation of the " one belt - one way " programme, which is based on the mutual political respect and economic development of China and all countries covered by this Program.

At the meeting, Members of the Collegium of the PABiH House of Representatives expressed their concern over the crisis in the Korean peninsula and voiced the hope that P.R. China will contribute to the peaceful resolution of this crisis with its wise policy. (End)
