Chairman of the BiH PA House of Peoples, Dr. Dragan Čović, met with the President of the Republic of Croatia
The Chairman of the BiH PA House of Peoples and member of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, Dr. Dragan Čović, whilst participating in a meeting of national delegations representing the countries of South East Europe in the OSCE PA, met with the Croatian President, Ivo Josipović, in Zagreb.
During the meeting, they emphasized the need to improve relations between these countries and to encourage the development of mutually beneficial co-operation in all areas and concluded that intensive co-operation between BiH, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia and the OSCE can give greater impetus to integration activities and reforms in the region .
Dr. Čović said that the region is in a phase of emotional relief but that the countries of the region should act in a more organized fashion. At the same time, he stressed that special attention needs to be paid to mutual parliamentary connections.
The Chairman of the BiH PA House of Peoples said today that the natural disaster that befell BiH, Serbia and Croatia shows how this and other problems have nothing to do with any borders and how our lives are often interlinked with one another.
The future of the whole region is in the European Union, said President Josipović during the meeting, and emphasized that the European values and aims of the OSCE are very important for the countries of our region. He added that all of us are still looking for a formula for stability and lasting peace, and welcomed this kind of regional co-operation. (End)
