The Committee on the Fight against Corruption of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) exercises parliamentary oversight with the aim of identifying and preventing all forms of corruption, in accordance with the Law on Parliamentary Oversight. It monitors the activities of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption and considers matters relating to the Agency; promotes activities within the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina aimed at combating corruption; cooperates with judicial institutions and law enforcement bodies at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of combating corruption; considers proposed laws and other regulations in the context of the fight against corruption; reviews preparations for the participation of delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina in international gatherings concerning the implementation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international obligations in the field of combating corruption, conflict of interest, and other forms of corrupt practices; examines reports of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of the fight against corruption; cooperates with similar committees and parliamentary bodies of other countries and international organisations, as well as with foreign officials, on issues relating to the fight against corruption; and carries out other activities prescribed by the Law on Parliamentary Oversight in this field.
The Committee on the Fight against Corruption of the House of Representatives also considers other matters within the field of combating corruption.
As an exception to the general provisions set out in Article 30 of the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives, the Chair of the Committee shall be from a political party that does not hold the position of minister or deputy minister in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This provision shall apply at all times during the functioning of the Committee on the Fight against Corruption of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH.
This Committee, which was first constituted on 28 December 2022 under the name the Committee on the Fight against Corruption and Kleptocracyof the House of Representatives of the PA BiH, later changed its name to theCommittee on the Fight against Corruption. The name of the Committee was amended by the adoption of amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH at its 14th session, held on 21 December 2023 (Official Gazette of BiH, No. 87/23).
