Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Dr. Božo Ljubić spoke with the Turkish Ambassador

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Dr. Božo Ljubić spoke today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in BiH, Cihad Erginay, about the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the eve of the general elections. The two men also spoke about improving political and economic relations between the two countries.

Dr. Ljubić noted that he deeply appreciates Turkey’s efforts to make Bosnia and Herzegovina a stable state on their path to European integration and accession to NATO, but warned that for BiH to function and survive as a multiethnic state, resolution of the relationship between the three constituent peoples is needed.

Dr. Ljubić particularly stressed that BiH needs to resolve the Croat question, which would remove fear of domination by one group over another, and remove a number of institutional roadblocks that impede the European and Euro-Atlantic path of BiH.

The officials agreed that it is necessary to significantly increase the volume of trade between the two countries and boost direct investment by Turkey in BiH. Ambassador Erginay said that this will be one of the priorities of his mandate in BiH and, in this regard, he suggested that leading politicians assist in the realization of direct flights between Istanbul and Mostar.
