Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, Dr. Denis Bećirović, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in BiH

 
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey have extraordinary political cooperation, which, in the interest of both countries, should be maintained and improved upon. However, in addition to strengthening bilateral ties, the revival of trilateral meetings between Ankara - Sarajevo – Belgrade should be considered as it has been shown to have positive reverberations throughout the region. This, amongst other things, was noted during today's inaugural meeting of the Turkish Ambassador to BiH, Cihad Erginay, and the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Dr. Denis Bećirović.

Despite encouraging data, which indicates that trade between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey from the implementation of the Dayton Agreement to date has increased approximately 50-fold and continues to grow, it was noted today that there is still much room for further improvement of economic ties. A prerequisite for this is further work on creating a climate to encourage foreign and Turkish businessmen because, as he said, that field is ruled by a very specific economic interests and not emotions. The officials agreed that work should be done to strengthen other forms of cooperation and relations between the two friendly countries, especially in the fields of education, culture, health and tourism.

Deputy Chairman Dr. Bećirović thanked Ambassador Erginay for the help that Turkey has given to the reconstruction of buildings that suffered in the recent natural disaster that hit our country. He also urged Turkish officials to continue to strongly support our country’s efforts to become a member of NATO as soon as possible.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Turkey expressed the hope that the upcoming general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina will improve the democratic environment and that the new government will be formed soon so that it can tackle, as soon as possible, those reforms that our country needs on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
