The Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sulejman Tihić, passed away last night in Sarajevo
Last night, in Sarajevo Clinical Centre, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sulejman Tihić, passed away after a long illness.
Information on the time and place of the last farewell and funeral will be announced later.
Sulejman Tihić was born on 26 November 1951, in Bosanski Šamac. He graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Sarajevo in 1975, after which he worked as judge and public prosecutor in Bosanski Šamac. At the beginning of the war in Bosnia, he was working as a lawyer.
From 1994 to 1996, Tihić was Head of the Consular Department of the BiH Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1996 to 2000, he was deputy in the Republika Srpska National Assembly (RSNA), and from 2000 to 2002, he held the position of RSNA Vice-President.
In the general elections in 2002, Mr. Tihić was elected member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From 2007 until his death, he served as Chairman / Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (End)
