Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina met today with a Delegation of the Parliament of the Czech Republic that arrived in the two-day official visit to our country and which was led by the President of the House of Representatives Mr. Jan Hamaček.
Thanking to the honourable guest for the assistance that the Czech Republic provided and still provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for its active participation in numerous development processes, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Šefik Džaferović, emphasized the need for further expansion of economic cooperation between the two friendly countries and of the trade, which annually amounts to about 200 million dollars. He added that in order to intensify the connections in the forthcoming period, it is necessary to complete the process of adoption of trans-national agreements on agricultural, cultural and educational cooperation as well as on social insurance and agreements on transport and communications, air transport and customs.
Today, the Deputy Speaker, Ms. Borjana Krišto, thanked for the cooperation that is essential for sustainability, safety and the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed hope that this, and every following meeting, will be an opportunity for the increase of cooperation between the two countries. Ms. Krišto also mentioned the establishment of the government in BiH, pointing out that she expects that these processes will go faster within next few days, taking into account the complexity of relations in BiH.
According to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mladen Bosić, Czech Republic is in a narrow circle of countries that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina perceive as benevolent friends. He added that positive diplomatic activities and policies of the Czech Republic he sees as a model from which one could learn a lot, which is especially evident in its active efforts to find a solution in the Sejdić and Finci case.
President of the House of Representatives, Mr. Hamaček, said today that a logical direction of the enlargement of the European Union leads over Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Emphasizing that even the Czech Republic had received substantial assistance on its pro-European path, he offered every professional support so that our country does not repeat the mistakes in an effort to become an EU member as once the Czech Republic had done. In this regard, Mr. Hamaček called for a more intensive cooperation of parliaments of the two friendly countries and emphasized the potentional connection between the related parliamentary committees that might create an atmosphere of more intense economic relations.
