Speaker of the House of Representatives Šefik Džaferović and Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Bariša Čolak spoke with Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Šefik Džaferović and the Deputy Speaker of the BiH PA House of Peoples Bariša Čolak spoke today in Sarajevo with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on improving political and economic relations between two countries.

Stressing the fact that relations between BiH and Pakistan are very friendly, two delegations jointly emphasized that there were considerable room for the improvement of economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy, military and wood processing industry and agriculture.

Emphasizing the position of the Government of Pakistan that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a key role in the Western Balkans region, and that BiH represents a successful example of the coexistence of three peoples, the Prime Minister Sharif expressed a lot of success to our country on its path towards EU and NATO.

The Prime Minister Sharif announced the upcoming signing of an agreement between two countries on the lifting of visas for diplomatic passports holders. He also stressed that a delegation of leading Pakistani businessmen will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina next year with the aim to improve the economic cooperation and trade exchange between two countries.

Expressing their gratitude to the Prime Minister and the people of Pakistan for the aid that the country has provided during the most difficult times for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Džaferović and Čolak stressed their willingness to work on the improving of relations with Pakistan in all areas. In this respect, the members of the leadership of both Houses argued for the signing, as soon as possible, of an agreement between two countries in the areas of fight against terrorism and organized crime, of preferential trade, as well as for other agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation between BiH and Pakistan.

During the meeting, there were also discussion about the improvement of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, through the establishment of contacts and visits of the members of the parliamentary friendship groups. The members of the leadership of both Houses have accepted the invitation of the Prime Minister Sharif to visit Pakistan. (end)
