Parliamentary Assembly of Central European Initiative session ended

Under the BiH presidency, the regular annual meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Central European Initiative (CEI PD) ended today in Sarajevo by the adoption of the Final Declaration.

In the final document, which was adopted by members of the delegations of all 18 CEI Member states, has firmly emphasized that without the Western Balkans countries, the enlargement process of the European Union (EU) is not completed, and CEI Member states, which are in EU, urged to continue to provide full support to countries that strive to EU membership.

During the session, which was dedicated to the strategy for preventing and combating terrorism in light of the migrant crisis, parliamentarians supported the CEI Cooperation with other international organizations in all issues of importance to the CEI Member States, including sustainable development, strengthening security and combating terrorism, transnational organized crime and corruption.

In this regard, the adopted Declaration emphasizes the importance of close cooperation within the CEI member states to resolve the challenges of migrant crisis, as well as coping and seeking for solutions to the main causes of this crisis. Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly in CEI PA and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Dimension of CEI Monika Tomić thanked to the participants of the session on cooperation, and announced that our country the duty of chairmanship for the next year handed over to Belarus. (end)
