Delegation of the House of Peoples of BiH PA in Valletta at the parliamentary meeting on enhancing the role of the parliamentarians in building effective counter-terrorism systems

Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Safet Softić and his deputy Bariša Čolak will participate at meeting on enhancing the role of the parliamentarians in building effective counter-terrorism systems within a rule of law framework, which will be held on 8-9 November 2016 in Valletta (Malta).

Two-day meeting of parliamentarians will be held in organization of the International institute for justice and the rule of law (IIJ), which is based with the aim to provide training to lawmakers, prosecutors, judges and other justice sector stakeholders on how to address terrorisms and related transnational criminal activities within a rule of law.

IIJ currently has 13 permanent members, including France, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.

The parliamentary meeting, funded by the European Commission, is a part of the project in recognition of the critical role parliamentarians play in developing and overseeing counter terrorism in line with international good practices. In this respect, a set of recommendations, came out of the similar meetings held during 2015 and 2016 in Malta, as well as in Morocco, Turkey and Brussels, will be presented at the meeting. (end)
