Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly spoke with the German Bundestag Friendship Group members
Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Safet Softić, his Deputy Speaker Bariša Čolak and the Deputy Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives Šefik Džaferović discussed today in Sarajevo with members of the Friendship Group of the Parliament (Bundestag) of the Federal Republic of Germany the current political situation and the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of our country.
Highlighting the long-standing friendship with Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the support they provide to our country in political and institutional terms, members of the Friendship Group of the German Bundestag pointed to the need for faster implementation of reforms and a stronger approaching of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union (EU) and NATO.
According to Members of the German Bundestag, in EU countries, faced with terrorist attacks and the consequences of migration crisis, a number of Euro-sceptics and opponents of the enlargement process is growing. Germany is not among those countries, emphasized the Bundestag Friendship Group members, but they also warned that BiH politicians must put aside their ethnic and national divisions and face real problems of the citizens, starting with the problem of unemployment to the issue of judicial reform and the fight against crime and corruption.
Members of the Collegium of both Houses thanked the German Bundestag Members for the strong support given to the German - British initiative that has led to the new approach of the EU to our country and that, after a long halt, returned Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European track.
Members of the Collegium of both Houses expressed confidence that our country, after the end of the local elections, will make the most out of the next two years in order to speed up the reform processes, complete the questionnaire of the European Commission in the best possible way, obtain the candidate status and open the EU accession negotiation process.
Emphasizing that the European and Euro-Atlantic integration process has no alternative, the highest representatives of the BiH PA called on the members of the German Bundestag to continue helping our country and lobbying for its European future. (End)
