Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with the President of the Parliament of the German province Hessen
Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the Speaker, Mladen Bosić and his deputies, Šefik Džaferović and Borjana Krišto, who paid a two-day working visit to this developed German province on the invitation of Hessen Parliament, talked today with their host, the Speaker of Parliament, Norbert Kartmann and his associates.
During the cordial conversation, it was pointed out that BiH and Hessen Province have very good friendly relations. However, they shared the opinion that chances for better ties both at the political and economic level are not sufficiently exploited.
Today's meeting was an opportunity to express gratitude for contribution of Germany on the European path of our country and especially for most current initiative of Chancellor Angela Merkel, which opens the door to achieving consensus on the adaptation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) of our country with the European Union.
According to the Speaker Bosić, strengthening the economy and economic stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina largely reduces the space for political destruction, and Germany and the province Hessen, as the most developed regions of Europe, can best help in such a process if the businessmen of the two countries actively connect through the cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce. According to him, the Bosnian diplomatic and consular missions in the world have an important task in this area, and it was suggested to the Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Frankfurt, as one of the largest of them, to make additional efforts in order to animate the German businessmen to cooperate. As a very good basis for such processes, it was emphasized that the economic exchange between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany is with minimal surplus at the expense of our country and that the largest German companies such as Heidelberger Zement, Messer, and Volkswagen are already present in our market and that they are among the leading exporters from our country.
According to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Šefik Džaferović, Germany has long been an important partner of our country and through the British-German initiative has launched a number of positive processes on the path of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards European Union, and the last days and efforts made to protect our farmers of harmful effects of SAA adjustments, show that Germany is our true friend. Deputy Speaker, Borjana Krišto, welcomed German assistance as will and added that the path towards the European Union and needed reform activities also contribute to stabilizing the internal relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During today's visit to the Parliament of Hessen, members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives attended a part of the plenary session of the Parliament. (End)
