Speaker of the House of Representatives, Borjana Krišto, spoke with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Political Director for the Western Balkans, Turkey and the EFTA countries

 
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, met today in Sarajevo with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Political Director for the Western Balkans, Turkey and the EFTA countries, Dr. Ernst Reichel, to discuss the current political situation and the future course of EU integration of BiH.

Mr. Reichel pointed out that Germany and U.K. are the initiators of a new approach of the European Union (EU) toward reform in BiH and that he highly appreciates the progress that BiH has made ​​in the course of this year Mr. Reichel also added that leading politicians and institutions in BiH should through dialogue on all issues remove all obstacles in order for BiH to be able to submit a credible application for candidate status for EU membership.

Ms. Krišto expressed gratitude to the German Government for its support to the EU integration process of BiH and suggested that BiH will take advantage of the current reform momentum and good will of EU institutions in order to ensure that application for EU candidate status will be submitted by BiH at the beginning of 2016 and accepted soon thereafter.

Ms. Krišto also assessed that meeting the requirements for the submission of a credible application for EU candidate status andthe requirements for the activation of the Membership Action Plan for NATO would be of great significance for the relaxation of political relations in BiH.

The meeting between Ms. Krišto and Mr. Reichel was attended by the German Ambassador to BiH, Mr. Christian Hellbach. (end)
