The Speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadić participated in a MAXCAP conference on EU enlargement
At the conference, held as part of the project Maximizing the Integration Capacity of the European Union (MAXCAP), recommendations for the EU's enlargement strategy were presented.
Participants from BiH, Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey discussed rule of law integration capacity in the Western Balkans and the integration of East European countries through the Cohesion Policy. Discussions were also held on the impact of eastern enlargement on the decision-making capacity of the EU, as well as on strengthening the rule of law in Bulgaria and Romania after their accession to the EU.
Speakers at the conference included the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, a representative of the European Commission, and representatives of the University of Sofia, London School of Economics, University of Leiden and the Central European University.
The MAXCAP project is financed by the EU and was created with the aim of strengthening existing and establishing new links between experts from the academic comunity and the world of policy on matters relating to the EU enlargement process. (end)
