Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PABiH, Dr Denis Zvizdić, Participates in Panel Marking Tenth Anniversary of Attempted Coup d'État in Türkiye

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Dr Denis Zvizdić, participated in a panel entitled "National Will and Democratic Resistance: 10th Anniversary of July 15", dedicated to marking ten years since the attempted coup d'état in the Republic of Türkiye.

Addressing the panel participants, Deputy Speaker Zvizdić emphasized that 15 July has long transcended the internal affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, becoming a global symbol of the defence of freedom, democracy, and state sovereignty.

He recalled that the pivotal moment of that historic night was the call by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for citizens to gather in the public squares and defend their homeland and emphasizedthat this unity between democratically elected institutions and the people proved that no threat could jeopardize a state when its citizens stand behind it.

"It is precisely in that synergy displayed by patriotically minded citizens of Türkiye, imbued with a strong sense of statehood and national dignity, in that unity between the President and the people, that the most important lesson of 15 July lies," stated Zvizdić.

He highlighted that on that night, the Republic of Türkiye demonstrated the strength of its institutions, responsible leadership, and the determination of its citizens to protect democratically elected authority, emphasizing that without the unity of the people and the state, there can be no stability, progress, or prosperity.

Speaking on relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Türkiye, Deputy Speaker Zvizdić stressed that the stability, strength, and prosperity of Türkiye hold special significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that relations between the two friendly nations go far beyond the scope of political, economic, and cultural cooperation.

"Our relations are, above all, fraternal and unbreakable, providing a solid foundation for their further development and consolidation," said Zvizdić.

At the conclusion of his address, he paid tribute to all the martyrs who lost their lives in defence of the democratic order of the Republic of Türkiye, stating that their sacrifice serves as a lasting reminder of the values of freedom, democracy, and the preservation of the legitimate constitutional order.
