Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadić in New York at the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament

 
Deputy Speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ognjen Tadić, participated at the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The three-day conference, being convened by the IPU every five years, gathered more than 120 Presidents of parliaments from around the world. At the opening ceremony the participants were addressed by IPU President, Saber Chowdhury, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, President of the UN General Assembly, Sam Kutesa, and Forest Whitaker, the famous artist, humanist and special UNESCO Commissioner for peace and reconciliation.

During the first part of the conference plenary session, emphasis was placed on the involvement of parliaments in the creation and attainment of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), as well as the challenges that the parliaments face today.

As part of the conference, in the next two days, Mr. Tadić will participate in debates on the application of SDG in practice, as well as parliamentary opportunities and challenges in achieving these goals. (End)
