Speaker of the PABiH House of Representatives Darko Babalj meets with the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Belgium

"The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Darko Babalj, met with the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Belgium, Vincent Blondel, on the margins of the Conference of Speakers of European Union (EU) Parliaments in Copenhagen today.

During the meeting, information on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was exchanged, with a focus on BiH's European path. In this regard, the President of the Belgian Senate emphasised his belief that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs in the EU, but added that this is a process based on merit and the fulfillment of conditions.

President Blondel pointed out that Belgium provides full support to the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the Constitution of BiH, and expressed hope that the upcoming General Elections in BiH will take place in a democratic atmosphere.

Speaker Babalj thanked Belgium for its support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly regarding the process of BiH's European integration. In this connection, Babalj stressed that he represents the majority in the House of Representatives which has adopted European laws.

Possibilities for improving bilateral cooperation of mutual interest for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Belgium were also discussed during the meeting." (Press release from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Darko Babalj)
