Speaker of the PABiH House of Representatives Darko Babalj participates in the Conference of Speakers of European Union Parliaments in Copenhagen
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Darko Babalj, is participating in the Conference of Speakers of European Union (EU) Parliaments, which began today in Copenhagen under the Danish Presidency.
Participants of the Conference—Speakers of Parliaments from EU member states and candidate countries—will discuss the core theme of the event today: the issue of EU enlargement, which the organisers have described as a geopolitical necessity. Opening addresses on the topic "Europe in a Changing World Order – Security, Enlargement, and the Role of Parliaments" were delivered by the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Kingdom of Denmark, Ukraine, and Albania.
The second session of the Conference is dedicated to the theme of democratic resilience in times of change. The EU Speakers of Parliament will debate how parliaments can strengthen democratic resilience in the face of disinformation, technological change, and declining trust in institutions.
The Conference will conclude tomorrow with a discussion on the challenges of hybrid threats and possible responses from European parliaments.
The PABiH delegation, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Darko Babalj, attended a reception last night hosted for the Conference participants by His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark and the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark, Søren Gade. Speaker Babalj is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Speakers of Parliaments from EU member states throughout the day.
