Members of the Collegia of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the PABiH meet with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe

Members of the Collegia of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) spoke today with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, who is on an official working visit to our country.

During an open dialogue, Mr Berset had the opportunity to hear various views on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Expressing understanding for the complex decision-making process in BiH, he called on political actors to work long-term and remain persistent on the path toward achieving European values, and to devise solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina that will result in the prosperity of all its peoples and citizens.

The members of the leadership of the PABiH houses expressed hope that, before the October General Elections, they would remove the current stalemates and establish the necessary level of dialogue to adopt essential pro-European and other significant laws and decisions, even within the pre-election atmosphere. Mr Berset emphasised today that the bodies of the Council of Europe remain dedicated to supporting such efforts, and he also announced the launch of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2026–2029), aimed at supporting democratic governance, the rule of law, and the exercise of human rights.
