Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Darko Babalj held a meeting today with the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Rick Holtzapple.

The discussions focused on the preparations for the upcoming General Elections in BiH, alongside the current political situation, with a particular emphasis on the stability and functionality of institutions, as well as the continuation of reform processes.

The interlocutors addressed concrete steps to improve electoral legislation and the technical aspects of conducting elections to protect the will of the voters throughout the entire electoral process. In this regard, they agreed on the need to accelerate the implementation of new technologies for the General Elections in October this year.

The meeting also highlighted the necessity of advancing ongoing reforms in the judiciary and the rule of law, aimed at fulfilling the conditions for opening EU accession negotiations.

Speaker Babalj thanked the OSCE Mission sincerely for its continuous and steadfast support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasising that the organisation’s experience and expertise remain invaluable for strengthening democratic processes.

Ambassador Holtzapple reaffirmed the readiness of the OSCE Mission to remain a partner to the PABiH in all activities that promote the further democratisation of society, bolster good governance and institutional transparency, and assist BiH in meeting its international obligations.
