Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Dragan Čović, meets with representatives of the Global Energy Team of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and the company BECHTEL

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Dr Dragan Čović, held a meeting today with a delegation of the BECHTEL company, headed by the President for Regional Affairs and Corporate Relations, Mr Justin Siberell, and with the Global Energy Team of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), led by Chief Legal Counsel Mr Sam Kwon.

The meeting was also attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr John Ginkel, and Member of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH, Ms Darijana Filipović.

The discussion focused on the Southern Gas Interconnection project as a key energy undertaking which requires urgent implementation with the aim of ensuring energy diversification in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On this occasion, a shared commitment was expressed to securing the prompt implementation of the project in the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America, as well as, as emphasised by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, Dr Čović, in the interest of the Croat people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, the importance of creating all necessary preconditions for the accelerated implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection was underlined, with particular emphasis on addressing existing challenges related to the issue of state property.

Special emphasis was also placed on opportunities for further strengthening of U.S. investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in other areas.
