Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Dragan Čović, meets with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Dr Dragan Čović, and Member of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH, Ms Darijana Filipović, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Mr Georg Diwald.

During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and addressed topics of mutual interest, including issues related to economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the continuation of partnership-based cooperation in areas contributing to the overall progress of the country, especially the acceleration of European reforms and the further strengthening of cooperation within the framework of Euro-Atlantic integration.

On this occasion, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, Dr Čović, underlined the important role of the Republic of Austria in providing support to the strengthening of institutions that contribute to stability, as well as to the advancement of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European perspective. He particularly emphasised the importance of functional internal dialogue, as well as the need to ensure full equality of the Croat people and their legitimate political representation, especially in the context of the forthcoming electoral process.

Ambassador Diwald stressed that the swift implementation of European reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a shared priority and reaffirmed support for all efforts aimed at the lasting stabilisation of internal circumstances and the achievement of foreign policy priorities.

The interlocutors jointly recognised the importance of continuing partnership relations and sustained dialogue, expressing confidence that the existing cooperation will contribute to further strengthening of friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria. (Press release from the Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, Dr Dragan Čović)
