Members of the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transport and Communications of the House of Peoples and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Foreign Trade and Customs of the House of Representatives PA BiH held a meeting with the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the British Parliament

The members of the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transport and Communications of the House of Peoples and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Foreign Trade and Customs of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) held a meeting today with the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, led by deputy and Chairwoman of the Committee Emily Thornberry.

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange information and opinions on several important issues, especially in relation to the European integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the reforms that should be implemented in order to speed up that process, as well as in relation to bilateral relations and political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The members of the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament expressed their unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as their support for the European aspirations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly emphasizing the rule of law and the fight against corruption as key issues for investor confidence and improving the lives of citizens.

The members of the commissions of both Houses of the PA BiH, delegates Safet Softić and Zlatko Miletić, and MPs Saša Magazinović and Šemsudin Dedić, confirmed their commitment to fulfilling the obligations on Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to membership in the European Union (EU), with a focus on the adoption of two reform laws in the field of justice and the appointment of the chief negotiator and his team so that our country can formally open negotiations with the EU by the end of this year.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom, with an emphasis on increasing trade, investment and cooperation in the field of education.

The meeting, which was also attended by the ambassador of Great Britain to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H. E. Julian Reilly confirmed the commitment of the United Kingdom to the stability and progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the exceptional importance of the parliamentary dimension of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
