Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples PA BiH dr. Dragan Čović held a meeting with the director of the State Department's Office for European and Eurasian Affairs

Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), dr. Today, Dragan Čović held a meeting with the director of the State Department's Office for European and Eurasian Affairs, Marko Fleming, and the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel.

The topics of the meeting covered the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an emphasis on the dynamics of the implementation of European and Euro-Atlantic reforms, and the further strengthening of economic cooperation between BiH and the USA. Particular emphasis was placed on projects of energy importance, the implementation of which, as it was jointly highlighted today, will ensure the diversification and energy independence of BiH, as well as the smooth implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection project. The officials also discussed other prominent issues, stressing that the preservation of peace, stability, integrity and the constitutional order of BiH is key.

On this occasion, Čović introduced the officials to the activities carried out within the legislative and executive authorities, stressing the importance of stable political dialogue, the functionality of institutions and the adoption of reform laws. In the light of 30 years of the Dayton Peace Agreement, dr. Čović emphasized the amendment of the electoral legislation with the aim of protecting the stable political dialogue and functionality of BiH, as well as equality and ensuring the legitimate representation of the Croatian people.

He emphasized cooperation with representatives of the USA in the upcoming economic activities as key, particularly emphasizing the joint implementation of the Southern Gas Interconnection. He emphasized that the investment of American capital in this project is a strategic issue considering that it also brings long-term political stability. In light of the intensified dialogue on achieving the necessary progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dr. Čović added that it is necessary to resolve the open issues of the existing legal solution as soon as possible in order to continue with the urgent implementation of energy priorities.

Director Fleming emphasized on this occasion the strong support of the US for reform processes, stressing that the US remains a key partner in the further development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed the importance of cooperation and the success of the Southern Gas Interconnection.

The interlocutors also exchanged opinions on regional conditions, further opportunities in the strong development of security, energy and economic cooperation, stressing the excellent relations BiH and USA.
