Chair of the Joint Committee for European Integration of PA BiH Zdenko Ćosić spoke at the 74th plenary meeting of COSAC in Copenhagen

Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) and Chair of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the PA BiH Zdenko Ćosić, who is participating in the 74th plenary meeting of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees on European Union Affairs (COSAC) in Copenhagen, addressed the participants of the COSAC Plenary Session as part of the session on the enlargement of the European Union (EU), and reforms and the rule of law.

In his address, Ćosić reminded that just two weeks ago, the Regional Conference of the Committee/Committee for Stabilization and Association in South-Eastern Europe (COSAP) was held in PA BiH, where they discussed the geopolitical influence on enlargement, economic integration, regional connectivity and the role of parliaments in the EU accession process.

He assessed that today we are witnessing a renewed EU focus on enlargement as a geopolitical investment in peace, security and common values. "In this context, new models of accession are being developed, but I want to emphasize that no country, especially in these sensitive geopolitical circumstances, must be left out of the enlargement process," Ćosić said.

He warned of the fact that BiH, like other countries in the process, had a certain setback on its European path. "However, our executive has submitted the Reform Program, and we are actively approaching the implementation of the Growth Plan, and I hope that we will get the chief negotiator soon. During the past week, the PA BiH House of Representatives adopted a series of European laws. These steps confirm our commitment and readiness to catch up with the reform processes", pointed out Ćosić, and concluded that only an inclusive, consistent and predictable approach can enable the preservation of the credibility and unity of the enlargement policy, which, as he emphasized, is in the interest of both the region and itself EU.

About 300 parliamentarians, members of Committees/committees for European affairs from 27 parliaments of EU member states, as well as members of the European Parliament participate in the Plenary Session of COSAC, which is held within the framework of the Danish presidency of the Council of the EU.

The dominant topic of discussion during the two-day session in Copenhagen was entitled "Strong Europe in a changing world". The participants of the session also discussed the trade policy of the EU, as well as the issues of energy sustainability and green transition. (end)
