Chair of the PA BiH Delegation in the Parliamentary Dimension of the CEI, Sredoje Nović, participated in the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the PDCEI in Belgrade

Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) and Chair of the PA BiH Delegation in the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative (PDCEI) Sredoje Nović participated in the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the PDCEI in Belgrade.

The central theme of the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of this regional organization, which this year marks 25 years of existence and work, was devoted to the theme "Artificial intelligence and sustainable communities and cities: opportunities for joint research and use".

In his address on this topic, the Chair of the PSBiH Delegation in PDCEI, Sredoje Nović, said that the use of artificial intelligence in cities and local communities is not only a futuristic vision, but also an urgent need of our region. He assessed that parliamentarians have the responsibility to monitor technological development, but also to actively direct it towards building better, more resilient and fairer societies throughout Central Europe.

Speaking about the challenges related to the use of artificial intelligence, Nović said that the Parliamentary dimension of the Central European Initiative can be an ideal platform for cooperation in this area and a joint response to the challenges of the use of artificial intelligence. According to Nović, it is necessary to work on the establishment of common regulation and ethical frameworks, with a focus on issues of data protection and citizens' privacy. Nović expressed his belief that at the CEI level, it is possible to work on the harmonization of regulations governing the application of artificial intelligence, especially in the area of public services. At the same time, Nović added, it is necessary to establish a Regional Code of Ethics for the application of artificial intelligence in smart cities, ensuring transparency, responsibility and preventing discrimination, and to encourage regional cooperation of universities and research centers in the field of artificial intelligence and urban planning.

The Chair of the PA BiH Delegation to the PDCEI, Sredoje Nović, actively participated in the session of the Committee for Political and Internal Affairs of the PDCEI, where he spoke about the topic of the interference of external actors in the internal affairs of CEI member states. He warned about the dysfunctionality of the state system and institutions, which, as he said, is directly influenced by the decisions of the Office of the High Representative and three foreign judges in the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nović expressed the hope that the subject of non-interference of external factors in the internal affairs of the CEI member states will be discussed in a peaceful tone and mutual understanding, and that, as he concluded, the peoples within the CEI member states will decide their own fate.
