“Today, the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Kemal Ademović, attended the unveiling of the Srebrenica Flower monument at the United Nations Square in Vienna.
The monument, dedicated to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide and unveiled on United Nations Day, is a project of the Association of Bosniak Communities in Austria, Consilium Bosniacum, realised with the support of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria.
In his address to the distinguished guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria, the President of Consilium Bosniacum, Damir A. Saračević, emphasised that the monument is not merely made of stone and steel, but also stands as a memorial “of our conscience, our voice, and our promise for the future,” sending a clear message: the world remembers, and such suffering must never happen to anyone again.
The President of the Association “Mothers of Srebrenica”, Munira Subašić, also spoke at the ceremony, stating that the monument will serve as a reminder of our slain children and give us hope that Srebrenica will never be forgotten nor repeated.
Addresses were also delivered by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Željko Komšić, Presidency member Denis Bećirović, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, as well as the envoy of the Reis-ul-ulema and President of the Islamic Community’s Mešihat in Slovenia, Mufti of Ljubljana Nevzet ef.
